Renter's Insurance Is The Cheapest Way To Feel Like A Real Adult

Laptop get stolen at a coffee shop? Renters insurance will cover it. Camera stolen on vacation? Renters insurance again.

Jenny Chang / BuzzFeed

Like many things in adulthood, renters insurance is as important and useful as it is confusing.

MTV

Your landlord has insurance that covers the actual building and structure that you live in; renter's insurance covers all the stuff you own: furniture, jewelry, clothes, electronics, bike, small appliances, art, etc.

Clothes, pots and pans, furniture, electronics…it all starts to add up quickly.

Game of Thrones made history tonight by taking home 12 Emmy awards, crushing the eight-win record set by The West Wing in 2000.

For its fifth season, HBO's acclaimed fantasy drama won Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at this evening's ceremony.

Those are added to the eight trophies Thrones claimed at the Creative Arts Emmys on Sept. 12.: Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Make-up for a Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic), Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary or Fantasy Program (One Hour or More), Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour), Outstanding Special Visual Effects, and Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Drama Series, Limited Series, or Movie.

In 2000, Aaron Sorkin's political drama The West Wing won eight Emmys: Outstanding Art Direction for a Single Camera Series, Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Cinematography for a Single Camera Series, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Main Title Theme Music, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, and Outstanding Drama Series.

It should be noted that some of the Emmy categories have been redefined since 2000 — and at least one didn't even exist. But with a four statue buffer, Thrones would still have easily beaten Wing.

48 Books To Read In Your 30s

Now that you’ve lived a little, it’s time to reflect on what got you here, what’s coming next, and how to live a more fulfilling life. In alphabetical order by title.

Always in Vogue, by Edna Willman Chase

Always in Vogue, by Edna Willman Chase

Before there was The Devil Wears Prada, there was Always in Vogue, a memoir by the editor of the magazine from 1914 to 1952. It was a different time in many ways — women didn't even have the right to vote when she took the job — but she was also way ahead of her time: She was an ambitious working mother who put her career first, a rarity in those days. If you loved The Best of Everything when you were just starting out, Always in Vogue is the perfect 1950s text for that point in your career when you are trying to figure out what's next. Plus, her descriptions of magazine life, New York, and fashion in the first half of the century alone make tracking down this out-of-print book worthwhile. —D.S.

American Primitive, by Mary Oliver

American Primitive, by Mary Oliver

Mary Oliver is arguably one of America's most important poets, and her collection American Primitive proves why: Illuminating and stunningly lyrical, Oliver's poems perfectly capture the wilderness that exists both inside of and around us. Lines that flow in and out of each other transport the reader into the very heart of the natural world and the divinity that lies there. Powerful, tender, and deeply wise, American Primitive celebrates the quiet beauty of humanity's symbiosis with nature and showcases Oliver as a master of language. —Jarry Lee

Americanah, by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Americanah, by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

This is the story of Ifemelu, a Nigerian woman who immigrates to the U.S. and finds life there to be complicated in ways she never anticipated. After years of struggle, she eventually becomes a widely read blogger (“Raceteenth or Various Observations About American Blacks (Those Formerly Known as Negroes) by a Non-American Black") and wins a fellowship to Princeton; her tale is paralleled by the experience of her high school boyfriend, Obinze, who immigrates to the U.K. and subsequently returns to Nigeria and becomes fabulously wealthy. Americanah is a funny, heartbreaking, and keenly observed social critique of both Nigeria and the U.S. —D.S.

Mom Kami told ABC News that the family's dog, Delia, was supposed to have puppies two days before Kami's own due date — but that timing would ultimately have it otherwise. "While at the hospital, my dad called to let us know that Delia had started having puppies," Kami said.

"It was super fun," Raczynski told BuzzFeed Life of the shoot. She said both Brydon and the puppies nearly slept through the entire thing — until the last few moments when Brydon woke up, surrounded by his new four-legged pals.
